Every year 21st April is dedicated to all the civil workers who contribute their time ,
their hard work to the nation.
Their service to the nation is a praising. On this day
the civil servants are awarded by “Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public
Administration”. A large number of districts across the country participate in this
award.

A civil service is a collective term for a sector of government composed mainly of
career bureaucrats hired on professional merit rather than appointed or elected,
whose institutional tenure typically survives transitions of political leadership.

This day gives civil servants the opportunity for introspection and thinking about
future strategies to deal with the challenges being posed by the changing times.
1947 is the date when first home minister of independent India , Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel addressed the probationers of administrative services officers in 1947 at
Metcalf House, Delhi, he referred to civil servants as the “ Steel Frame Of India”.

Satyendranath Tagore was the 1st Indian to join the indian civil services [ICS] in
1863.
Father of civil services:
Warren Hastings laid the foundation of civil service and Charles Cornwallis
reformed, modernised and rationalised it . Hence Charles Cornwallis is known as
Father of civil services.The most prominent civil services include:
Indian administrative service [IAS]
Indian forest service[IFS]
Indian police service[IPS]
Indian revenue service[IRS]
To be an civil exams are been conducted by the government. There are many fields
to work as a civil servant. The main cause to be an civil servant is that it encompasses
all one can aspire for unlike prestige , job , security etc.
Civil servants in one way decide the fate of the nation as the implementation of all
developmental and other government policy rest with them .
