National Maritime Day

“National Maritime Day”

In the India's navigation a history was created when SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia team Navigation Company Ltd journeyed to the United Kingdom. This was a crucial step in India's shipping history when sea routes were controlled by the British. Let us tell you that for the first time this day was celebrated on 5 April, 1964 to inform people and spread awareness about intercontinental commerce and the economy worldwide.

Maritime transport, fluvial transport, or more generally waterborne transport is the transport of people (passengers) or goods (cargo) via waterways. Freight transport by sea has been widely used throughout recorded history. The advent of aviation has diminished the importance of sea travel for passengers, though it is still popular for short trips and pleasure cruises. Transport by water is cheaper than transport by air, despite fluctuating exchange rates and a fee placed on top of freighting charges for carrier companies known as the currency adjustment factor (CAF).

The Scindia Navigation company was founded in 1919, envisioned by Walachand Hirachand.

This was the first shipping company which was founded by the large scale industrialists and started the Indian  Europe service with loyalty. The top business man Walachand Hirachand along with Narottam Morarjee,  Kilachand Devchand and Lallubhai Samaldar started sailing from Gujrat. It played a significant role in Indian Independence. But forcefully they had to sign an agreement of 10 years with British companies and we’re restricted to sail the ship towards the indian costal shipping trade for this time period .

The company's house flag was a rectangular blue flag with a white disc in the centre bearing a red swastika, an ancient Hindu emblem of well being and goodluck.
